Dink led an adventurous life. As the wife of an Army SGM, they traveled the world and eventually retired in Gadsden. The two of them were a testament to true love. With son, Mike, they started Fisher Industrial Service and embarked on yet another successful adventure. In 1999, she and daughter Pattye opened Interiors, Etc. and finally began their true passion of home décor and interior decorating, which incorporated her other passion...shopping.
Another of Dink's greatest pleasures was entertaining friends and family with her signature style. Football season and the holiday celebrations will not be the same without her creative orchestration. As her friend Ashleigh Langdale said, "I can imagine all the diamonds, lipstick, and fancy high heels she will be wearing in Heaven." Those who know her are forever changed by her private philanthropy, love, and hospitality.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Brewer Battle and Jess Brown Battle; her brothers Frank Everette Battle and James R. Battle; and sisters Mable Gramling and Cile Middleton.
Dink is survived by the love of her life for 65 years, Marvin L. "Sarge" Fisher; her daughter Pattye (Bruce) Woodall; son Mike (Cindy) Fisher; grandchildren Justin (Kay) Fisher and Jordan Mynatt; sister Nan (Brelin) Kidd; best friend of 46 years Betty Carden; and her loving friend and caregiver Pat Clayburn. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Our family would like to thank Lisa Irby, Tammy Cox, and Barbara Townsel of Encompass Hospice who provided a peaceful passage to her new life and comfort to those of us who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Collier Butler Funeral Home and graveside service at Crestwood Cemetery on Wednesday, September 5 at 10:00 AM.
