Today, January 22, 2019, I received a card from Pat's wife.  Thinking it was a late Christmas card, I was excited to open it.  Tears began to flow as I read her note telling me of Pat's passing.

Pat was one of the BEST supervisors I have ever had.  I worked as his assistant at UT-Arlington.  Pat was a very special person in my life as he was always encouraging and supporting me as we worked together to promote Landscape Architecture.  He treated me in an extremely respectful manner; even in the times we fought over politics (haha).  I may have only seen him once or twice after I left the University in 2003 and moved home to Chattanooga, TN; but we kept in touch periodically via e-mail.  

He told me of his new beautiful wife and I am so glad she was in his life.  I only wish the two of you could have met years earlier.  Thank you for loving him and caring for him.

Dear Friends of Pat -

On Sunday, September 23rd, the day before the memorial service, there will be an open house from 3 - 8 pm at the Warwick Melrose, in the suite of Jeff & Martha Endsley.  Jeff is Pat’s nephew, Dean’s oldest son.  The Warwick’s address is 3015 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, Tx.  It’s about 2 miles from the church.  

We will visit, reminisce, & celebrate the wonderful life & times of our beloved Pat Taylor.  Please bring photos if you wish.  We will bring what we have.

Food & drink will be provided at the open house.  We look forward to seeing everyone & spending time visiting.  Please come.

Pat - Thank you for being a good friend to me, my mother and father.  What memories - New Year's Eve Christmas tree burning at the Park, trips to football games together with Puck and Grady.  If there was anyone that I would have wanted for a brother you would have been the one.  Tell we meet again my friend.

I will always remember Pat as a dear friend, a faithful colleague, and a major force in the professional education of landscape architects. He truly made a singular mark on all who came to know him. I wish peace and solace to his family, friends, and colleagues even as we celebrate his life and achievements. The attached photo shows Pat and Julie at Pat's induction as a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2016.

Pat was a dedicated professional who loved  to share his passion for landscape architecture and especially education.  I was privileged to know him when I was Provost at UT Arlington.  He will be missed by many.

The Rusher Family wishes the Taylor Family it's deepest, heart felt condolences.  Pat was a kind respectful person & I recall him always been cordial, amicable, and professional.  He never hesitated to give a friendly nod & acknowledge your presence in a room or in the halls of the University.  He will be missed a great deal by friends and colleagues here at UTA's CAPPA.  Thank you for your time at UTA &I feel grateful to have had the privilege to have known him as a fellow educator.
