Genevieve Callegan Maurin, resident of Donaldsonville, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge. She was 78. Genevieve was a retired Nutrition Specialist with Ascension Catholic School for 18 years. Her passions included cooking, sewing, crocheting, traveling, and playing tennis. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, James A. Maurin; daughters, Julie M. (Glenn) Landry, Teresa M. (JR) Landry, Jan M. (Roderick) Landry and Vicki M. (Jude) Fernandez; son, Charles V. Maurin; sisters, Bessie Banta and Mary Berthelot; brothers, Curtis Callegan and Davis Callegan; 9 grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew, and Marie Landry, Jessica and Grace Landry, Brittany B. (Cody) Foret and Lloyd Michael Boudreaux III, and Madelyn and Mason Fernandez; and a great granddaughter, Saphira Foret. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Amanda “Mandy” Settoon Callegan; two sisters, Alta Berthelot and Lucille Daigle; and four brothers, William, Floyd, Joseph and J.D. Callegan. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Entombment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Maurin, Glenn Landry, Matthew Landry, JR Landry, Roderick Landry, Lloyd Boudreaux III, Jude Fernandez and Mason Fernandez. The family wants to extend a special thanks to all her sitters, especially Robin Rushing and Babette Thibodaux and to the staff at Clarity Hospice for their care and support.
