Born February 20, 1973 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sonya was the daughter of Wanda Lewis Douglas and the late Daniel Lee Douglas. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from UNCC, and her Master of Science degree in professional counseling from Georgia State University.
Sonya will be remembered for always volunteering, giving to others, and greeting everyone with her radiant smile.
Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, Matthew Ross; three daughters, Marguerite "Maggie," Lorraine "Lainie," and Danielle "Dani"; mother, Wanda Lewis Douglas; and brother, D. Brett Douglas. Sonya is also survived by her grandmother, Esteline Jordan Lewis of Conway, South Carolina; uncle, Russell Lewis of Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina; and aunt, Renee Lewis Gambill of Tabor City, North Carolina.
A service to celebrate Sonya's life will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, with Pastor Lance Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 10:30 am until the service time.
