MEMORIALS:
If you wish to honor Ralph’s memory, please consider a donation in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or a veterans’ charity of your choice.
Big Ralph, Butch, Ed, Moon, Coach Ralph, Senator (just to name a few) was born Jan. 31, 1934 to Ralph and Regina Gilmore in Philadelphia (Manayunk), PA. He graduated from Roxborough High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from St. Joseph’s University.
He married Catherine Fennell in June 1959. They lived with their three children in Philadelphia (Andorra) until 1975, when Ralph took a job with American Airlines and they moved to Arlington, TX.
As a lifelong Frank Sinatra fan, Ralph would tell you he did it, “My Way.” He loved to golf at Rolling Hills Country Club; was a basketball “teacher” for many youth; loved to dress up for Halloween; scouted for college basketball; loved to tell stories over a few beers; cheered on his Philadelphia sports teams; and loved to take pictures with everyone, especially celebrities. Ralph was very involved with his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He was a true patriot and would be sure you knew the proper way to salute. He always had the best interests of others in all of his endeavors.
The family would like to thank the staff at Atria Senior Living/Lake Arlington and the staff at Universal Hospice for their care. Ding Dong!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; his parents; his sisters: Bernadette Swider, Jeanne Robidoux and Helene Nace; his brother-in-law, Frank Robidoux.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Patricia Pierret (Steve); Son, Ralph, Jr. (AnnD); daughter, Cathleen Guinn (Shawn); Grandchildren: Kimberly Hussey (Brian), Geoffrey Pierret (Lizzie), Ann Pierret, Bridget Gilmore, Patrick Gilmore, Meredith Guinn, Julia Guinn; Brothers-in-Law: Matt Swider, Gus Nace.
