Frederick “Fred” C. Trinks, 81, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 46 years of Maria (Augustin) Trinks, was unexpectedly taken home by our Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018. Born in East Hartford on October 10, 1937, a son of the late William Harry and Emma (Dixon) Trinks, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Fred was a Welder for 50 years, retiring from Ideal Rack in East Hartford. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and a former member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, East Hartford. He loved music and liked listening to Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Tony Marshall. Fred was a “history buff” who studied all the Presidents of our country, and also liked being outdoors watching and feeding the birds. He was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed traveling and day tripping. He often vacationed in Vermont, Florida, and in Pennsylvania Amish Country. Most of all, Fred was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved telling stories to his grandchildren and supporting them at their school, sporting events, and activities.
Along with his beloved wife Maria, Fred is survived by a son, Fred Trinks and his wife, Belinda, of East Hampton; two step-sons, Bert Saur and his wife, Tammy, of Kerrville, TX, Heinz Saur and his wife, Ruth, of East Hartford; nine special grandchildren, Amy, Stacey, Tiffany, Amanda, Michael, Alex, Zachary, Benjamin, and Abby; ten adored great-grandchildren; and one great, great-granddaughter. He also leaves two brothers, Richard Trinks of Stonington, Ronald Trinks and his wife, Nancy, of South Windsor; a brother-in-law, Edward Jarow of East Hartford; a brother-in-law, Fritz Augustin and his wife Poldi of Augsburg, Germany; dear friends/neighbors, Gerry and Colette Therrien of East Harford; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by a step-son, Raymond Saur of East Hartford; two brothers, William “Bill” Trinks and Robert “Bob” Trinks both of East Harford; and five sisters, Evelyn Jarow of East Hartford, Barbara Mellott of Glastonbury, Beverly Bores of Broad Brook, Lois Gigure of Bradenton, FL, and June Green of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (November 28th) at 10:30 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, East Harford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday (November 27th) from 4 – 7 pm.
