Gloria Schreiber Dobin, 82, of Tequesta, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, November 24, 2018 after battling various illnesses for the past eight years. She was born October 15, 1936 in Orange, NJ, the daughter of Sigmund and Regina Schreiber. She spent her early years in both Orange and West Orange, NJ. She graduated from West Orange High School where her talents as a pianist and artist were displayed. She served as the head drum majorette in the High School Marching Band. After graduating from High School, she attended Douglass College, New Brunswick, NJ on a full academic scholarship graduating in 1958 with High Honors in French. Upon graduation she went to work in New York City at the French American Bank as a translator and teletype operator in French to the then-French colonies in Africa. She was working at the Bank when she met Edward I. Dobin, then a Law School student. They married in 1959 and remained married until her death. They had three children -- Marc S. Dobin, Esq. (Donna Lee Spinosi), Nanette Dobin Cronan (Thomas) and Andrea Dobin, Esq. (Albert Lazarovici). Gloria has four grandchildren, the prides of her life, Alexander Dobin, Michele Dobin, Grant Lazarovici and Nina Lazarovici. While Edward finished Law School, they lived in Philadelphia PA. Upon his graduation they moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania living in Yardley, PA and Newtown, PA. The latter in a custom home designed by Gloria. In anticipation of her youngest child going off to college Gloria returned to higher education earning an MBA at night from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Upon Edward’s retirement in 2001 they purchased homes in Tequesta, FL and Margate NJ becoming snowbirds. As Gloria’s illnesses progressed, they sold their home in New Jersey and became full-time residents of Florida. While living in Bucks County Gloria became active in community theatre, performing in several plays. She also wrote, acted in and directed several plays for the Sisterhood of Adath Israel Cong. in Trenton, NJ. If you asked Gloria what her career was, she would say: raising three children to be good citizens, and assisting her husband in his career and his philanthropic and community endeavors. Friends and relatives are invited to attend services, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 12 noon at IJ Morris At Star of David Cemetery of the Palm Beaches, 9321 Memorial Park Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33412. Shiva will take place at the home of Marc Dobin, 3326 Greenway Drive, Jupiter, FL on Wednesday following the internment until 3pm and 5-7pm, Thursday from 1-3pm and 5-7pm, Friday from 1-3pm, Sunday from 12noon-3pm and 5-7pm. Minyan will be held each day at 7pm.
