He joins his mother and father Minnie Mae and Harold Davis, his sister Linda Byles and brother Raymond Davis. His smile and love will be missed by his fiancé Nancy Teears, son David Davis Jr., daughter Debbie Thomas, their mother Dorthie, granddaughter Brittany Bentley and her husband Garrett, grandsons Austin, Ethan, and Colin Davis, great grandson Fletcher Bentley, sister Janet Cook and her husband Tummie, and brother Harold Davis Jr. and his wife Lois, as well as numerous family and friends as well as his beloved dog, Charlie.
Dave grew up in Ohio, graduating from Bainbridge High School before proudly joining the United States Air Force at just 17, with permission from his mom. He spent most of his three years of service in England, exploring much of Europe during his breaks. After being honorably discharged, he moved to his adopted home of Texas. He lived the rest of his life in Houston and the surrounding area, starting and growing his family and becoming an integral part of his community. Dave ended his career at Columbia Gas after more than 35 years and reaching the positions of Director of Transportation, and President of their employee association. Once retired he enjoyed splitting his time between his family, hobbies, church and travel.
Throughout his life, Dave was an active member of his church communities, acting as a deacon for many years at University Heights Baptist Church. He was also an avid dancer, locally known as "Rubber Legs" and golfer. His unmatched work ethic, generosity, flirtatious nature, love of sharing his passions with his children and grandchildren, and his eagerness to help any and everyone, ensured that he stayed busy and that he never met a stranger. To his family he was PaPa, our rock and our hero, to his friends a smile that never faded, and to the stranger on the street, help coming at just the right time.

In lieu of flowers, tune-up your car, check the air pressure in your tires, and smile at your neighbor – he would have wanted that.
