Mr. Duque was born in March 22, 1929, growing up in the southern parish of Chillogallo, in Quito, Ecuador. He was born to Antonio Espinoza Duque and Victor Manuel Duque. He was the eldest of seven siblings Raquel Mena, Fausto, Fanny Vargas, Marco, Enrique Marcelo and Martha Mora. At the tender age of 12, dire circumstances gave rise requiring Victor to abandon formal schooling and pick up the family trade which he would eventually graduate in profession as Master Tailor. At the age of 25, life presented love, and he married his lifelong companion and Seamstress, Elsa Margoth Carrillo de Duque. Together, they gave birth to Luis Guillermo Duque and Inez Magdalena Vargas.
In mid-1960, Victor Luis made the initial sacrifice immigrating to the United States, planting roots for two years before his wife and children were able to rejoin him. From then, Victor and Elsa worked tirelessly to assist countless loved ones also seeking the American Dream.
Honorably, Mr. Duque retired from Foley’s after serving 30+ years in the Men’s Department. He was a proud and dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Apart from his devotion to God in prayer and time spent with his family, pastimes included playing or watching fútbol (soccer), worldwide travel, playing cartas (card games) and telling chistes (the native artful skill in the telling of jokes).
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsa Margoth Carrillo de Duque; Children, Luis Guillermo Duque, his wife Annamarie Duque and Inez Magdalena Vargas, her husband Victor Hernan Vargas. Grandchildren, Luis Guillermo Duque, Jr., Maria Luisa Salinas, Victor Hernan Vargas, Jr. and Miguel Antonio Duque; two brothers, Marco Duque and Enrique Marcelo Duque; sister, Martha Mora; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
