Keith Donald Lamb passed away peacefully in his home on December 1,2018. He was predeceased by his wife Sharon . He survived by his father Jean A. Lamb, brother Bruce D. Lamb, niece Alison M. Lamb, Uncle Richard Lamb and many dear cousins. Keith was born in Tampa Florida on December 5, 1960 to Jean Altman Lamb and his wife Irene Gloria (nee Fernandez). Keith grew up in a happy home environment with his brother Bruce in their home on Davis Islands in Tampa. Jean still resides in the family home. He attended Gorrie Elementary. The family home was about a block away from where his cousins Irene and Wayne resided with their parents, creating an extended family atmosphere. The family took many long road trips in station wagons that could be compared to National Lampoon’s Vacation. One such trip included Irene and Wayne’s family for a total of eight traveling in two station wagons loaded with camping gear. While at a campground in New York the kids attempted to capture a Chipmunk to take home as a pet. Most trips were camping vacations with boys begging for an occasional night in a motel with a pool. On one trip Keith ordered spaghetti at a restaurant only to be told by the waitress that it was “out of season.” He became skilled at making bologna and sardine sandwiches in the “back-back” of the station wagon while cruising down the highway. The family moved to Panama City, Florida when Keith was 10 years old and subsequently to Wilmington, North Carolina as Jean’s career with the National Cash Register Company advanced. Keith graduated from New Hanover High School. Keith attended the University of North Carolina, Wilmington and was a disc jockey for the university’s radio station. Jean and Irene moved to Gainesville, Florida and subsequently Keith also moved there. He attended the University of Florida and was later employed as a manager at the famous, and on occasion infamous, Purple Porpoise Pub where he met his future spouse Sharon who was working as a waitress. Keith was a very affable young man who loved interacting with people. In return people loved Keith. He became well known in Gainesville and somewhat of a local celebrity. Keith loved music and met many bands who visited the Porpoise. He became friends with Tom Petty. Keith and Sharon moved to Tampa and Keith became a manager at The Press Box and subsequently The Golden Coral and Longhorn Steakhouse. Keith loved to travel, sail, scuba dive, camp and canoe. He loved to launch canoes at a spring and float downstream, tent camping along the way. He took many trips with Sharon before she passed away and more recently with Jean and Bruce to Alaska and Europe. Keith was very skilled at foosball and pinball. Keith had a wicked sense of humor and loved to suck you into a bizarre story, until he’d finally say “just kidding.” He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and cousin. A Celebration of Life will take place at Bruce’s home on December 22, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Children’s Home Network, 10909 Memorial Highway, Tampa 33615.
