Lionor “Eleanor” Vasquez Rosales was born on March 22, 1917 in Oxnard, California to Tamasa Arsedio & Bartolo Rodriguez Vasquez. She had 7 siblings total: 3 older sisters, 1 younger sister, and 3 younger brothers.
While still a child, her parents separated and her mother took her to work in the fields, she traveled with her mother between northern and southern California, living like gypsies, picking strawberries, onions, grapes, cotton and anything else that was in season. Wherever night found them they would camp alongside of the road and call that home.
The years passed and her older sisters each left to start their own families. During a visit from her sister Janette when Eleanor was in her 20’s, Janette convinced their mother to let Eleanor leave and go live with Janette and her husband in Los Angeles. Janette, being the social butterfly that she was, made sure Eleanor attended the weekly parties and dances. It was at one of these functions that Eleanor met the love of her life, Robert Paul Rosales
Having dated for approximately sixth months, Eleanor and Robert married on December 30, 1939 in Los Angeles. Their family would eventually grow by two more with the addition of their children Robert “Bobby” Rosales, Jr., and Carmen S. Rosales. Bobby, Carmen, and their families would give Eleanor many grandchildren (8), great grandchildren (19) and great, great grandchildren (10).
