Lorrin was born on October 30, 1948 in Odessa, Tx, to L. J. “Jack” Scott and JoAnn Orren Scott.
Lorrin attended Odessa public schools and graduated from Odessa High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended Arlington Baptist College where he met his wife Sarah. Lorrin changed the direction of his career into medicine. He attended Odessa College where he earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Lorrin moved his family to a little city known as Paris, Tx. to work for McCuistion Regional Medical Center. After only being there for a short time, a Physician at the hospital saw the potential for Lorrin to be successful and useful Physician Assistant and offered to share their knowledge and skills with him. Lorrin was able surpass all the required tests to qualify for this particular career path.
Lorrin became a Physician Assistant, grandfathered into a new Physician-taught/ instructed program. He obtained his license to practice medicine in the early 70’s. In the early 1990’s an opportunity to serve those in Mitchell County perked an interest for Lorrin. He left Paris, Tx and found his new home at Mitchell County Hospital where he was employed until his death.
Lorrin had a servant’s heart. He had a passion to not only help those in need of medical attention but to also serve those in his community. Lorrin carried a wealth of knowledge. You could rarely not find him nose deep in a medical journal or book. He loved sharing his knowledge, work ethic and skills with others that he opened his home to students in the Physician Assistant program at Texas Tech University. The students were invited to come live at his home while completing their clinical studies with him at the hospital or clinic. His love for others did not stop at the hospital as he and Sarah chose to foster children where they met their third daughter and fourth child Amanda. Lorrin served his community in various civic organizations. He was involved with the Paris Jaycees where he demonstrated his strength in leadership and Lamar County Sheriff Reserve where he served and protected his community. He welcomed a new found interest in the Red River Valley Fair Association. He was involved in different aspects of the organization but loved the fair and especially the rodeos. He served a term on the board of directors with the fair association.
It was because of these hospitals and civic organizations Lorrin met and found his life long friends.
Lorrin filled his free time caring for his land and horses. It started at a young age his love for horses. From his time spent at Prude Ranch in Fort Davis to serving on the Ector County Sheriff Posse horse patrol , horses would be an important part of his life. Lorrin was not much of a traveler but if he was on vacation you could find him in the mountains of Colorado or a good ole rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He would also enjoy shorter trips to Ft. Davis, Alpine or visiting family. His family was very important to him. You could always hear him telling a good story or corny joke.
Lorrin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age.
