Bruce Underhill of Las Vegas Nevada passed away on January 5, 2019 at a local hospice. Bruce's father was originally from Wisconsin but moved to Troutdale Oregon as a child. His father entered a career in the military and met Aiko Ubukata when he was stationed in Japan. Bruce was born April 22,1959 at U.S. Army Hospital, Camp Zama, Sagamihara, Japan. He was their 2nd son. His childhood was primarily spent in Okinawa Japan.
In 1973 his father retired from the military and they moved to Gresham, Oregon. He attended Junior High and met his best friend for life, Greg Kirwan. He graduated from Gresham High School and continued his education at Portland State University with a Bachelors degree in Marketing.
His passion in life was fishing. Even in high school he spent a lot of afternoons and weekends fishing. He fished for trout, bass, salmon, sturgeon, ocean bottom fish, just to name a few. He was a member of the Mt Hood Gresham Oregon Bass Masters club and fished numerous tournaments over the years. He was with the club for over 20 years but was forced to leave due to health issues.
He was a self taught computer programmer and was hired by Summit Information Systems Inc in 1986. In 1989 he went to work for one of their clients, First Technology Federal Credit Union. Some of his accomplishments included creating processes that their IT provider said couldn't be done. He worked there until his Kennedy's Disease and numerous health issues took over.
As his fishing lessened, his family grew and his greatest joy was being called Papa.
Bruce is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene of 20 years, his father David, stepmother Kazuko, mother Aiko Miyashita, brother Michael and wife Michelle, stepson's Nicolas Razee and wife Zinnia along with Bryan Bleck and wife Oana, grandchildren Cody Ross, Lily and Max Razee, and Liam Bleck, nieces Crystal Taylor and Allyson Underhill, and nephew Thomas Underhill.
Bruce had a heart of gold to those who knew and loved him. He has not left us, he has graced us.
