John Thomas Manning of Peculiar, Missouri passed away January 24, 2019. He was born 1937 in Holmes Park, Missouri to John S. Manning and Nina Myrtle Hill Manning. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by nine siblings and one granddaughter.
At the age of 17 he married his sweetheart, Darlene. In February they would have celebrated their 64th Anniversary. Always a hard worker he worked blue collar jobs. He left school at age 15 to work concrete with his older brothers. He then became a hod carrier which led to him becoming a well-respected brick mason in the Kansas City area.
He liked fishing in his spare time but his true passion, besides Darlene, was singing, song writing and playing guitar. From his days of looking like Elvis and seeing the girls swoon, to playing country gospel in nursing homes, his talents were always admired. That voice is what made Darlene turn away from her date that night to see who was singing. Their eyes made contact and they had never looked away since.
Together John and Darlene were loving parents to their two children, Debra Lynn Luptak and John Thomas Manning Jr. He enjoyed their grandchildren and great grand grandchildren.
