Charles "Chuck" Lacy, age 90, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Piedmont North Columbus Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services are scheduled at Trinity United Methodist Church, Phenix City, Alabama on Monday, February 4, 2019, 11 a.m. with Reverend David Hendrix and Reverend Bruce Johnson officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2-4 p.m.
Mr. Lacy, son of the late Irby Chester Lacy and Minnie Florence Register Lacy, was born October 29, 1928 in Geneva, Alabama. He was a retired textile engineer from West Point Pepperell where he faithfully worked for over 30 years. Mr. Lacy served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant and later with the Alabama National Guard, serving over 39 years and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his distinguished military career, he was awarded numerous medals and ribbons to include the Meritorious Service Medal.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a good Christian husband and father. Mr. Lacy continually studied God's word on a daily basis and taught Sunday School at both Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City and First United Methodist Church in Lanett, Alabama.
He was a proud graduate of Auburn University, graduating in 1956. Mr. Lacy loved to fish, work in the yard, and grew award winning roses. He was an honest man with unconditional love for his family and his animals. His family remembers him most for his love of Christ and his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Lacy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carolyn Lacy of Phenix City, Alabama; three daughters, Carol Sellers of Dadeville, Alabama, Cathy Lacy Moore and her husband Steve of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Connie Lacy of Hagerstown, Maryland; two sisters, Margaret Clary of Ada, Oklahoma and Sue Tutcher of Eatonton, Georgia; two brothers, Fred Lacy and his wife Emily of Auburn, Alabama and Ben Lacy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one grandson, Nathan Sellers of Dadeville, Alabama; many other relatives and friends.
