LYNN – Francis “Raymond” Davis, 91, of Lynn, formerly of Peabody, passed away Wednesday, February 6th at his home in Lynn. Ray was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Elliott) Davis with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, Ray was the son of the late Walter and Emma (Walters) Davis. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1946 and attended Burdette College and Bentley College Night School. He served in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. He worked at the B & M Railroad for several years and then worked at New England Telephone in the repairs at the central office for over 35 years until his retirement in 1989. He had been a resident of Peabody most of his life and formerly of No. Andover and Salem. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Apostle Church in Peabody for many years. He enjoyed camping, and building model ships. He was a member of the Disabled Veteran’s Association in Peabody and the N.E. Telephone Pioneers retirees association.
Ray was the loving father of two sons: Brian Davis and his wife, Denise of Haverhill and Stephan Davis and his wife, Beverly with whom he lived in Lynn; two daughters, Karen Kielbasa and her husband, Thomas of San Antonio, TX and Cheryl Coy and her late husband, Richard of Peabody; the dear brother of Walter Davis of Winthrop; the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Slack and her husband, James, TJ Kielbasa, Justin Davis and his wife, Cara, Nicholas Davis and his wife, Tara, Shawn Davis and Kimberly Davis; great grandchildren, Tyler and Abigail Slack and Jaxtin Davis; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Raymond’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday, February 12th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Apostle Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
