Martha Stoerner, 82 of Houston, Texas formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away at Brookhollow Nursing Home on February 9, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1936 in Burton, Texas to Richard and Betty (Boeker) Stoerner. She graduated from Burton High School and went on to attend Blinn Jr. College; she worked for Texas Employers Insurance, American General Life Insurance and USAA Insurance. Her work in the Insurance Industry took her from Houston to San Antonio to New Jersey and back to San Antonio before retiring from USAA Insurance. She was a volunteer chaplain with the Community of Hope Organization, a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church after a long membership at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston.
Martha is survived by her sisters, Gloria Zwahr of Houston; Nina Dyer of Conroe; sister-in-law, Toni Stoerner of Houston along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny Jesse Stoerner.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Preston Weatherly officiating with burial following at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until service time.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Dyer, Brian Dyer, Ronnie Stoerner, Ronnie Becker, Eddie Bench, Matthew Bench, Joshua Bench and Otto Castro.
