Services for Bertie Alala Birdwell, 94, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Garland Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.
Mrs. Birdwell was born October 10, 1924 in Neches, Texas, the daughter of the late Dovie Estelle (Gammill) and Milton Laper Harbour. She passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Birdwell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She volunteered at Woodland Heights Medical Center for 10 years and also volunteered at the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center. She was secretary/treasurer for RSVP for 20 years. Mrs. Birdwell loved to travel and fish. She was a charter member of Victory Assembly of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Dolores (Dee) Dixon of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Sandra Rawlinson of Huntington; stepdaughter, Pam Bailey of Lufkin; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Birdwell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Birdwell; father of her 3 children, Jessie Lee Rawlinson; daughter, Judy Jones and her husband Gary Jones; brothers, Cecil Harbour and Melvin Harbour; sister, Greta Trevathan; daughter-in-law, Lou Rawlinson; and son-in-law, Charles Dixon.
Mrs. Birdwell will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers, Jamie Stubblefield, Kevin Stubblefield, Jeffrey Stubblefield, Waylon Jones, Jason Rawlinson and Andrew Stubblefield.
Her honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Stubblefield, Brandon Stubblefield, Phillip Jones, Mark Christian, and Keith Morris.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
