Charles Stanley Tedder (Ted), born March 15, 1938 in Caledonia, Missouri, passed away March 7th, 2019 in Huntsville, AL. Preceded in death by his baby sister, Vicky, and mother, Zelma Tedder Ramsey. Charles served 22 years in the US Air Force before retiring as a Master Sergeant followed by 10 years of government service retiring from Redstone Arsenal.
Charles is survived by his wife of 61 Years, Margaret Tedder, 5 siblings: Vera Stevens of Fredericksburg, VA, Lon Pike of Longs, SC, Edith Harrison of Smyrna, TN, Maureen Beach of Shelbyville, TN, and Carey Ramsey of Conroe, TX; a special cousin, Tom Tedder, who was like a brother to him; 3 children: Charles Tedder (Mina) of Langley AFB, VA, Dawn Mercer (Steve) of Olathe, KS, and Lori Czereda (Tim) of Murfreesboro, TN; 5 grandchildren: Lindsay Czereda of Huntsville, AL, Katherine Mercer of Jersey City, NJ, Ethan Czereda of Murfreesboro, TN, Stephen Mercer of Manhattan, KS, and Benjamin Tedder of Ramstein, Germany; and 3 great grandchildren: Chloe, E’lara, and Brynn.
Charles was an avid Ham radio operator active in the Huntsville/Madison County area under the call sign W1CST. He was an avid reader of fiction primarily science fiction novels. He was also known for his love of animals. Along with having special pets, Charles welcomed many strays into his home. Charles loved country music and managed a band for several years.
A memorial service will be held on March 13th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
