William James Wellborn was born January 11, 1925 in Chicago, IL. to Joseph & Bertha Wellborn.
William attended Forestville High School and thereafter served in the United States Navy until 1946 where he received the Bronze Star Victory WW2 (Asiatic-Pacific).
William married the love of his life Odessa Wellborn in 1948 until her death in 2008. They had no children.
William (Uncle James) was employed by Campbell Soup Company and retired in 1987 after 44 years of service. William shared his childhood life with 4 siblings; sister Esther Adams; the late Dorothy Craig, the late Joseph & Ronald Wellborn and niece the late Debra Adams.
William loved watching Western movies and the Price is Right in his favorite recliner and eating tootsie roll pops.
William Wellborn received his wings on Sunday, March 10th, 2019. William leaves to cherish 1 surviving sister Esther Adams, a host of nieces which includes his caretaker, Sandra Adams Monegain, and nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 3:00 -9:00 pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home (4727 W. 103rd Street; Oak Lawn, IL 60453), and again from 11:30 am until the time of his funeral at 1:00 pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:30 am at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
