She was born February 10, 1939 in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania to Eugene and Helen (Major) Reichard and grew up on several rolling acres of farmland with three brothers, one sister and several cousins.
She married David Ramirez in Phoenix in 1969 and raised six sons together. They were married for 44 years.
Throughout her life, she held many jobs. She was a seamstress at a sewing factory, a caregiver for the elderly, and a children’s daycare worker, to name a few. After she retired, she was usually quite content to keep herself busy at home. She loved to watch old movies on TV and she was always in the middle of a good book with a stack of books waiting for her on the bookcase. She wasn’t picky; any genre of book would do, from romance novels to mysteries to Westerns. When she wasn’t reading, she would spend hours working very methodically on one of her challenging jigsaw puzzles. But we all knew where to find her if she ever wasn’t at home—at the casino! Black Jack was her game, but she was also known to hit the jackpot on the slots as well.
Grace was survived by her six sons, John (Mary) Finto, Gene (Linda) Finto, Orvis (Lori) Finto, David Michael Ramirez, Robert (Brenda)Ramirez, Charles “Chuck” (Betty)Ramirez, and one brother, Dick (Louise) Reichard. She had several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ramirez, her parents Eugene and Helen Reichard, one sister Leatha “June” Reichard, two brothers Harold Reichard, Ronald Reichard, and three grandsons.
As per their wishes, both Grace and Dave’s ashes were scattered with a mixture of wildflower seeds off South Mountain in Phoenix. It is our hope that these flowers will bloom and become a beautiful reminder of their lives.
