Frank S. Matanane passed away on April 12, 2019 at the age of 61 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Angeles City, Philippines on April 13, 1957 to his parents, the late Francisco Camacho Matanane and Estefana Saenz Matanane. Frankie was honorably discharged from USMC. Retired SSgt in US Army protecting the U.S./Mexico border from Brownsville to El Paso prior to his tour during Desert Storm. After serving in the armed forces for 20+ years, Guam Auto Electric was passed on to him where he ran the family business as a master mechanic. He had a hunger for knowledge and became a jack of all trades. Frankie was an outstanding cook and BBQ extraordinaire. He was an excellent dancer and had a great love for music, movies, his country, but most of all his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Estefana; brother, Jesus Saenz; and his grandson, Gabriel Arce.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory his son, Martin Arce (Lori); his daughter, Dominique Camacho (Marco); his daughter, Yvonne Matanane; his son, Phillip Matanane; his son, Frank S. Matanane Jr. (Yvette); and his son, Jesus Matanane; his 14 grandchildren; his great-grandchild, expected to arrive in July; his siblings, Estefana, Estella (Jose), Maureen, Eddie (Janie), Elizabeth (William), Gerard, and Rosa (Shayne); and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
The Visitation will take place on Monday, April 22 at Roy Akers Funeral Home - 515 N. Main Ave. - from 5 PM to 9 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. On Tuesday, April 23 family and friends will meet at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church - 2829 Ackerman Rd. 78219 - for the Funeral Service at 12 PM. A Funeral Procession will depart from the church and arrive at Fort Sam Houston Nation Cemetery - 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. 78209 - for burial at 1:45 PM at Shelter #5.
The presence of one so dear is no more, but their precious memories are engraved in our hearts forever.
