survived by Dolores Stephens of the home, three children, Kara Livingston,
Bryan Thrasher and Kathleen Thrasher and two grandchildren of Anchorage,
AK. One brother, Patrick Thrasher and wife [oann of Arlington, MA, three
nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mike and two sisters, Patricia and Sara.
Dr. Thrasher was a retired Navy Captain, a prominent area psychiatrist and
an attorney. His notable professional accomplishments are numerous. They
include his medical education from Virginia Commonwealth University and his legal education from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He had a subspecialty in forensic psychiatry. His professional positions included professorships in psychiatry as well as consulting, supervisory and director" positions in a number of states. His professional work also included psychiatric publications and presentations.
Although Dr. Thrasher was immersed in his work, he still found time to enjoy other activities. An enthusiastic runner, he participated in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC and the Cooper River Bridge run in Charleston, SC for many years. He enjoyed weight lifting, travel abroad and in the US, opera and was an avid reader of historical nonfiction and scientific books. Dr. Thrasher loved life and he was an example of one who lived life to the fullest. He will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Sunday, May 12th at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
