On a beautiful, sunny Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2019, Ivan “Duane” Cole, 57, of Parrish, Florida met Jesus with open arms at the end of the track of his life. He died from injuries sustained from a dirt bike accident in Punta Gorda, his favorite pastime and sport he dearly loved.
Duane was born on November 6, 1962 in Avon Park, Florida to Dwight and Linda Cole, formerly of Zolfo Springs, Florida. Moved to Orlando at the age of 5 with his Mother and two brothers, Darryl and Jody. After high school he married the “girl next door” and high school sweetheart, Tianna “Tina” Madamba.
Duane is survived by his wife, Tianna “Tina” Madamba Cole, beloved wife and soulmate of 31 years; son, Pvt. Levi Cole, United States Army, Ft. Carson, Colorado; Tiara Cole of Winter Park, Florida; Taylor Cole of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; Mother, Linda Cole Hendry of Parrish, Florida; brother, Jody Lee Cole of Parrish, Florida; two grandchildren, Laila Grace Woodall and Ny’kee Randall Cole; Father-in-Law, Antonio Madamba and Brother-in-Law Antonio Madamba Jr. of Orlando, Florida; and uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Dwight Cole; brother, Darryl Dwight Cole; Grandparents Albert and Rena Lanier; and Clarence and Annie Mae Cole and step-father, Bruce “Buddy” Hendry.
Duane received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Florida Baptist Theological College in Graceville, Florida. Following college he served as Youth Minister at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Later moved to Bradenton, Florida where he pastored Mill Creek Baptist Church for nine years. He and wife Tina served in multiple non-profit organizations over the years, including prison and addiction recovery ministries. Duane received his real estate license and worked for Signature Realty, Lesley Wells Realty, Trade Winds Custom Homes, and was currently employed by Cabinets-To-Go in sales and design in Sarasota.
A man after God’s own heart, Duane was a man of faith and with a passion to tell others about Jesus and His salvation. He enjoyed life, and adored his wife and family, and many friends. He was always there to brighten the lives of others, always with a BIG smile. He never met a stranger and there was nothing he liked better than an interesting conversation with friends or anyone. He loved his dirt bike, hunting, camping and snow skiing, music... Christian gospel, rhythm and blues, and a dance to go with every note!
Duane Cole...a husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, to all who knew him, he will be missed but not forgotten.
