Funeral services for Woodrow Wilson, 98, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening, June 3, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilson passed away on May 30, 2019 in Lufkin. He was born on June 28, 1920 in Bald Hill, Texas to parents, Jack and Rosie Gilbert Wilson. He was a World War II Veteran, who proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired truck driver and an avid coon hunter. He was also a member of the Allentown Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeannie Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Robert Barton; sons, Don Wilson and Robert Wilson; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Gilbert Duke; step father, Tom Duke; and 2 sisters.
Mr. Wilson will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers: Thomas Barton, Daniel Barton, John Barton, Dennis Wilson, Blake Wilson, and Casey Wilson.
