Born January 18, 1927 to Robert and Bertha True in Avoca Iowa, Dorothy lived on the family farm and attended school in Avoca. She had three brothers George, Robert (Mary) and William (Joyce) True.
Graduating from Avoca High School in 1945, Dorothy went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Household Equipment from Iowa State College in 1949. Dorothy married John Terry Mathers June 11, 1950 at Ames Iowa.
John and Dorothy lived in Iowa and had four children; Keith (Carol) Mathers, Ann (Ken) Blakeslee, Carol (Mike) Wilson and Ellen (Dale) Foster. In 1966 they moved to Boulder, CO where the majority of their life was spent. They both enjoyed the mountains and had many adventures throughout the years all over CO.
Dorothy was a member of PEO, Home Economist in Homemaking, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. She and John took the video church service to a local nursing home in Boulder for over 30 years. Dorothy also delivered library books to the nursing home.
Dorothy was a homemaker, she cooked meals for whoever was present at mealtime and enjoyed baking. Christmas cookies were her specialty. She enjoyed gardening, camping, flowers, sewing and helping anyone who needed a helping hand.
Dorothy always said being a grandma was much easier than being a mom and loved having her grandkids under foot. She was blessed with eight grandchildren; Hannah (Joel) Braun, Trent (Samantha) Blakeslee, Melissa Wilson, Greg (Nicole) Foster, Ryan Mathers, Julie (Justin) DeLeon, Kristin (Mike) Lundy and Eric (Cynthia) Mathers. She also has five great grandchildren; Lily, Max, Landon, Tegan and Serafina.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband John; three brothers; George, Robert and William and a grandson Jason.
Visitation and viewing will be from 2-3pm June 7, 2019 at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, CO with graveside services to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.
Coffee and donuts will be served at 9am June 8, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in Fort Collins, CO with a Memorial service to follow at 10am in the Chapel.

This was a favorite Memorial Day weekend trip to help clean up, repair, paint or anything needed at the camp to get ready for summer use.
