Mary was born in Regina Sask. to Arthur & Maude Brown. She and her brother, James Brown grew up together in the Regina area spending a lot of time with extended family as their Mother went to be with the Lord at a very young age. In 1940 she met and married the love of her life, Clifford Hobbis. Over the years they experienced the joys of becoming parents to Art, Murray, Mary, Jackie & Pat. Through the years the family grew again with the addition of Sue, Marion, Bill, & Darwin as loved and cherished spouses. Some of the greatest joys came through the years watching their family grow with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
To know Mary was to know the true example of faith, humility, compassion and strength. Once you met Mary you would quickly learn that her first love was the love she had for Jesus, her Lord and Saviour. She and Clifford shared that deep love for Jesus through the years they were married and give Him the credit for the 77 years that they were Sweethearts.
June 3, 2019 at 12:30am Mary was ushered into the presence of Jesus, from her “Cottage in the Village” at Nanaimo Senior Village Complex Care. As family we take great comfort knowing that she is home where she was ready and wanted to be. We miss her more than words can say and know that one day we will be reunited with her in Heaven. Prior to Mary’s move to Complex Care she had been under the careful care of the Nurses, Staff and Doctors at Nanaimo General Hospital. We are thankful to them for their kind care they gave her during her time of recovery. As a family we would like to now thank the Staff, Doctor, Nurses, Care Aides of Nanaimo Senior Village for the care and concern they gave to Mary during her time there. They helped her last days and our last days with her to be filled with care, compassion and comfort.
Mary’s Celebration of Life will be on June 29, 2019 at 1pm at Departure Bay Baptist Church, 3510 Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo, BC
