Marge as born in Chicago, Illinois on February 7, 1932. She was the first child of William and Gertrude Winkler who immigrated to the United States from Germany in the early 1900s. Since childhood Marge had wanted to be a nurse following gin the footsteps of her Aunt Flo. So upon graduation from high school, she applied to and was accepted into St. Luke's School of Nursing (now part of Rush University). Upson graduation in 1953 her first job was on a surgical floor at the University of Chicago.
Besides nursing, her passion was to travel and explore new places which led her and her two friends to drive across the country to Seattle. It was there that she married and had two children and began her career at Seattle Children's Hospital.
She is survived by her children Heidi, Scott (Karen) and one grandson Cody and many close friends that she considered family, To many she was called Oma Marge.
Besides nursing and raising a family, she enjoyed knitting, gardening and traveling all over the world. Many of the places she traveled to were Europe, China, the Panama Canal, South America and her life long dream of going to Africa. To experience camping in the African bush and seeing her beloved elephants up close was so special and provided a lifetime of memories.
In her final year of life, she lived at an amazing Adult Family Home, Blueberry Gardens. There she was cared for so lovingly by the staff until she passed onto her next journey on June 8, 2019.
