Betty was born on February 20, 1931 in Colorado City to Albert and Gladys Roney Morris.
Betty was a woman who lived a simple yet faithful life devoted to God and family. She was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church in Colorado City where she was active for many years working in the nursery and serving her Lord and Savior. Betty married her high school sweetheart Charles Dockrey and they devoted their lives to finding ways to fall deeper in love every day and to raising their family strong in faith and family values. She taught her family that living within their means was a true gift and that made them truly rich in love. She taught her children to cook, clean, and how to sew, and when needed made sure they knew right from wrong. Her home was the place where all of her children’s friends wanted to go because she and Charles were the “cool parents”. She would always have after-school treats and words of advice or encouragement for those that came by. She was also an amazing cook, but when it came time for a recipe it was always “some of this” or “a little of that” because she had the recipe in her head and not on paper. She was a true blessing to those that knew her and her dedication to God and family is a legacy that will be passed through many generations to follow.
Betty is survived by her sons Bruce Dockrey and wife Marsha of Colorado City and Rodney Dockrey and wife Sharon also of Colorado City and by her daughters Rhonda May and husband Thomas of Hermleigh and Latisha Dockrey of Colorado City. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bryant Roberson and wife Sandy, Jody Chaney and husband John, Jamie Hammond and husband Kyle, Tabitha Stone and husband Jason, and Lacy Oden and husband Blake, as well as by her great-grandchildren Seth, Maysan, Sadie, Ethan, Jaxon, Karoline, Kinslea, Preslea, Taelyn, Bransyn, and Alyssa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Charles Dockrey, by her brothers Preston and Price Morris, by a sister Cleda Goswick and by a grandson Brad Dockrey.
