Tom Cramer, age 54, longtime resident of the Southside Chicagoland area, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2019. Cherished brother of Susan (Terry) Muldoon and their children, Erin (Kenny) Konrath, Beth (Eddie) Velasquez, and Terry (Regan) Muldoon, Jr., with whom he was raised from age 13; Special brother of Joe (Donna) Cramer, John (Mary) Cramer, and Jim (Karen) Cramer; Fun uncle of Joe (Jill), Greg (Elsa), Brian (Stephanie), Lisa, Heidi (Ryan), Laura (Troy), and Tim; Great-uncle of 20+. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Loretta (nee Harnett) Cramer.
Tom was a proud Notre Dame graduate who followed the Fighting Irish with a boundless passion, and was also was a die-hard fan of the Sox and the Bears. He loved playing his guitar and loved writing even more, while writing most of his stories about growing up on the south side of Chicago in the 70’s. Tom filled them with humor, sweetness, mischief and enough details to make you feel as if you were there with him (Google, Huffington Post & Tom Cramer).
He enjoyed international travel and the exposure to different culture and languages, spending an extended time in Belgium and France, taking the time to learn some Dutch and French. He also spent some time in Mexico and learned Spanish. One of his favorite places was Ireland, the native homeland of his mother’s family and was completely at home in Ireland with the people, the countryside, and the Irish culture of warmth and kindness.
Tom was an excellent cook with an outstanding palate for combining a dish perfectly with beer or wine and the family consulted him for special celebrations, always enjoying his outstanding selections. Tom loved his family and his many friends and was loved in return.
A Memorial Gathering is scheduled for Tom on Friday, 7/19, from 4-9 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
