Warren was born on September 26, 1938 to Joseph and Lillian Walburg, in Braham, MN. His family lived in Cambridge until Warren was in high school, when they moved to Minneapolis and he graduated from Central High School in 1957. He was part of the Edgewater Baptist Church youth group, where he met the girl who would be his lifelong partner, Arlene Hanson. They married November 30, 1957, and moved into their first home in Crystal, MN. Soon Wendy Kaye and Leah Beth were added to the family. Warren worked at Minnegasco Gas Company.
In 1973, the family moved to Cambridge, MN and after commuting for a few years, Warren owned the Cambridge Standard Station and later Furniture Studios; he worked at Grandview Christian Home as Maintenance Director; owned his own construction company building houses, commercial buildings and doing other remodeling jobs and projects. He volunteered many hours as treasurer of First Baptist Church, starting New Hope Community Church, and as an area leader for East Central Minnesota Operation Christmas Child.
Warren and Arlene built a log home in Springvale Township, moving there in 1981. There Warren did some hobby farming, made maple syrup, and had a large garden. He spent hours outdoors playing with grandkids giving rides on the lawn mower, pushing the swing, going on nature walks, playing Bocce Ball, sliding, skating, and loving family campfires making hot dogs and s’mores.
In retirement, Warren and Arlene enjoyed times in Florida, Mexico and then settled in Sun City, Arizona in 2014. He loved the warmth, feeding the quail, eating fresh grapefruit and tangelos, and walking every day. Due to health issues, they moved back to Minnesota in December of 2017, living at Walker Methodist Levande, in Cambridge.
Warren will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife Arlene of almost 62 years; daughters Wendy Walburg and Leah (Ron) Lindell; grandchildren Cara Lindell (Dan Murray & family), Craig (Emily) Lindell, Caitlin (Peter) Maring, Kimberly Walburg; great-grandson, Jameson Lindell; sisters Adele Olson and Donna McLaren; sister-in-law Lois Walburg, brother-in-law Mark Hanson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Bill, and grand-daughter Jennifer Ann Holden.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Community Church, 33030 Vickers Street NE, Cambridge, on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00am with a visitation at 9:00am.
