Thomas Wesley Hopper, 85, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on August 5, 1934 in Akron, OH. He grew up in Atlanta, GA graduating from O'Keefe High School in 1953 and Oglethorpe University in 1957. Thomas enjoyed a long professional career in Computer Programming. He has had many hobbies including painting, tennis, archery, and flying radio control helicopters and drones.
Tom joined Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church in 2004 where he previously served as a Deacon, an Elder and in other areas of lay ministry.
Tom loved his family dearly and cherished times spent with them. His friends, both professional and personal, were close to his heart.
Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ott; brother, Joseph Hopper, Jr.; parents, Ora and Joseph Hopper, Sr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Carolyn; daughter, Ellen Larson (Tony); grandchildren, Robert and Bethany Larson; and a great-granddaughter, Anasia Curry.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13th from 6-8pm at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. John's Bluff Rd. North, Jacksonville, 32225.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14th, 11am at Hodges Blvd. Presbyterian Church, 4140 Hodges Blvd, Jacksonville, 32224. Presiding Minister will be Rev. Jonathan Swanson. Committal to follow at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills. A reception will be held at the Funeral Home following the burial.
