He was born on March 6, 1953 in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Virginia to the late Clarence James and Mary Cabral.
David married his wife Patricia "Pat" Cabral on July 20, 1991. They spent 28 wonderful years together. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany; post military service he worked for General Electric. David enjoyed fishing in his boat, "My Way". He was a man of God, a gentle soul with a kind heart, and he loved his grandchildren and family dearly. He always had a joke to tell and his laugh would make anyone smile.
David is survived by his wife, Pat, of Citrus Heights, California; son, Jonathan Cabral (Christina), of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; daughter, Melissa Bennett (Sean), of Roseville, California; three step-sons Michael Haynes, of Tulsa Oklahoma, Ken Haynes (Gabrielle), of Morgan Hill, California; Brett Emrick (Katrina), of Paradise, California; step-daughter Kathy Cruz (Bob), of Oregon; siblings, James Cabral, Sr. (Dayle), of Louisville, Kentucky; Maryalice Cabral Minoff, of Delray Beach, Florida; Joseph Cabral (Marci), of Brooklyn, New York; Michael Cabral (Robin), of Queens, New York; 9 grandchildren, Vanessa Panella, Cal Haynes, Ray Emrick, Anyis, Emilee and Ashlynn Cabral, Cole and Bailey Bennett, and Nolan McAlister. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Cabral and siblings, Christine Ann Cabral and Donald Cabral.
Church services for David will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 4:00p.m. to 5:15p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2341 Floral Avenue, Chico, California, with a celebration of life to follow. A military memorial service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 10:00a.m., at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California.
