Our beloved dad, papa and great grandpa Robert “Bob’ Troeppl went to be with his beloved wife of more than 50 years on the evening of August 15, 2019 after a long struggle against Parkinson’s Disease.
Dad was born on May 2, 1932 to Mae Pearl Kesner and William Martin Troeppl in Seattle, Washington. Seattle was to remain his home for his entire 87 years.
Back in the day, it wasn’t unusual for kids to marry much younger than they do now and dad was no exception. He married mom, (Ellen Louise Kauffman) on August 12, 1952 at the age of 20. They had four children, Robert Lee Troeppl, Cheri Lee Troeppl, Pamela Alice (Troeppl) Kinnaird and Julie Ann (Troeppl) Milstead.
Dad worked as an independent jobber delivering Vitamilk Dairy products and all of his children remember running the milk route with him at various times in our childhood and helping with the monthly billing of his customers.
Dad loved camping at the ocean or up in the woods. He was an epic razor clam digger and taught all of his children to dig clams. He loved his boat and going salmon fishing but most of all he loved his beautiful yard. Despite working long hours, dad’s yard was a masterpiece. He spent hours down at his pond, trimming hedges and bushes, mowing lawns and weeding a vast number of flowerbeds. Dad had a green thumb and enjoyed tilling the soil in his back lot for his vegetable gardens each year and enjoying the ripe plums from his tree.
Dad is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to his beloved Ellen on November 21, 1981. We believe that they are sealed for time and all eternity and that their marriage has not ended at their passing. We know mom was there to greet him when he passed through the veil, as well as the countless strays he took in during his lifetime. Dad loved animals. We believed that any animal within a 20-mile radius knew about Bob Troeppl and his love of cats and dogs. We had puppies and kittens constantly growing up, and although mom was less than pleased she did put up with his desire to have all the animals.
Dad served as a temple worker in the Seattle Temple for many years and was proud of his children for serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad’s faith was simple and strong and he raised his children in love and truth. He gave us an amazing childhood and will be missed terribly, but we are grateful that he is no longer suffering in a physical body that no longer served him well.
Dad leaves behind his four children, 13 grandchildren ( Heather (Troeppl) Hunsaker, Tyson Troeppl, Justin Troeppl, Chad Troeppl, Lindsay Troeppl, Stephanie Kinnaird, Christopher Kinnaird, Allison Kinnaird, Ashley Kinnaird, Cameron Milstead, Cody Milstead, Jessica (Milstead) Papenfuss, Nicole (Milstead) Carey) and 9 great-grandchildren (Hannah Troeppl, Kai Troeppl, Jared Hunsaker, Taylor Hunsaker, Isaac Hunsaker, Tinsley Hunsaker, Greyson Troeppl, Enzo Souza and Ellie Milstead.) We love you, Dad. Till we meet again.
