Janice June Moon Pearce was born to Mignon Westbrook Moon and Lemuel Harold Moon on May 2, 1939 in Houston, Texas. Her given name at birth was Janice Moon (no middle name). In her early years, she was nicknamed “June”. June was her preference and remained with her all her life. When she was a young adult, “June” was added as her legal middle name.
When she was eight years old, the family moved from West University to the Memorial area west of Houston. She graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1958. At the time, Spring Branch High School was the only high school in the Spring Branch Independent School District.
She spent most of her life in Houston, Texas. She was a big fan of the Texas Aggies and of the Houston sports teams.
She met her late husband in Houston and later moved to San Antonio with him. It was here she spent her last years.
She loved her dog, Dino, and appreciated visits from her family, especially her nephews, Wayne, Philip, and Caton, and her granddaughter Ellie
Communication with her friend, Becky Ray, and the company of her caregivers, Shanna McGuire, Virginia McConnell, and Arthur Dee Hodge were an important part of her last years.
June is survived by her sister, Melinda Moon Walker, who resides in Houston, Texas, her nephews Wayne, and wife Leslie Mainzer Walker and daughter Ellen (Ellie), Philip, and Caton and wife Thushara Corea and children Hampton and Lavinia.
