Susan Marie Szeplakay

Susan Marie Szeplakay, age 65, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 26th, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; with her family by her side. She was born July 11th, 1954 in East Chicago, Indiana to Andy and Helen Mancos. As an accomplished nurse practitioner in the field of cardiology, Susan has dedicated her life to caring for others and contributing to cardiac research. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, vacationing at beach resorts, and relaxing poolside with her friends. She is preceded in passing by her daughter, Emily in 2001 at age 19. Susan is survived by her loving husband, Joe Mojzik, her dear friends; Becky and Kevin Goheen, five children; Erin (James) Halbrooks, Sean (Kim), Beth (Tom) Ciolkosz, Zack (Laura), and Nate, her two step children; Jodi (Kevin) Baldwin and Jeffrey Mojzik, and several grandchildren; Travis, Chris, Summer, Logan, Tyler, Noah, Derek, Ryan, and Camden.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN with Deacon Michael W. Halas officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family Friday, August 30, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
