Mr. Farler, born in Commerce, Texas, was a longtime resident of Sulphur Springs where he served as the Public Works Director until his retirement. He was an active member of First Baptist church where he served as Deacon and taught Sunday school for many years.
He served as a board member for the Texas Association for Retarded Citizens (T.A.R.C) and was an active member of the Jaycees. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from East Texas State University and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was a loving and devoted Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather.
Mr. Farler was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Lee Fortenbury and Willie Thomas Farler. He is survived by his two children, Lorie Lee Hughs and Del Scott Farler; son-in-law Matthew Hughs and daughter-in-law Teresa Farler; five grandchildren, Landon Myers, Haley Pierce, Cole Myers, Dylan Hughs and Daniel Hughs and four great-grand-children. A graveside memorial is scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2019, at 2 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park located at 220 US 67, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455.
