She was 98 years and 9 months at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by a daughter (who died at birth on September 25, 1950, Linda Kay Bradley), her father William (August 1964), her mother Glee (July 1982), and her husband Herbert Arthur Bradley (September 21, 2012).
She spent all of her formative early years in Monticello where she met her future husband to be, Herbert Arthur Bradley, whom she met in the 7th grade. They both graduated from Monticello High School in 1938 and were later married on January 3rd, 1942. She worked multiple jobs during their early marriage as it was during World War II and everyone was required to contribute.
While living in Monticello during her early married life she was actively involved at the local Methodist Church where she was Secretary of the Women’s Sunday School class, as well as a member of the church choir. It was during this time that a 2nd daughter was born, Janice Renee Bradley DeMoss Seay, born October 25th, 1952. Also during this time, she was President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post Number 101, based in Monticello, as well as an officer in the Platt County American Legion Auxiliary.
In 1961, she and Herbert moved to Oklahoma City, OK due to Herbert’s job. She worked in Oklahoma City for the Oklahoma Teacher Retirement office before changing jobs to the Oklahoma Department of Institutions and Rehabilitation Services (Medical Department). Later she worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission (Income Tax Division – Refund Department). She retired from fulltime work at the age of 69.
During her working years, and in her post-retirement years, she distinguished herself in several service organizations. Her service roles included: Member of the Hospitality Club Of OKC; Officer in the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Lodge 417 (OKC); President of the Echoes Book Club; Regent of Colonel John Starke Sr. Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Recording Secretary of the Chapter Regents Club for the DAR in the State of Oklahoma; Member of the Resolutions Committee for the DAR in the State of Oklahoma; State of Oklahoma DAR Chorus; President, American Business Women’s Galatea Chapter; a docent at the State of Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion; and Member of Magna Carta Dames (family lineage of Baron William Malet circa 1250).
Mary Cynthia Bradley is survived by one daughter (Janice Renee Bradley DeMoss Seay) of Lenexa Kansas, two grandchildren: Amanda Marie DeMoss Watkins of Broken Arrow OK (along with her husband C.J. Watkins) and James Bradley DeMoss of Portland OR (along with his wife Amanda Pat DeMoss), four great-grandchildren: Jonathan DeMoss (15) and Evelyn DeMoss (9) of Portland OR, and Adelyn Watkins (4½) and Harper Watkins (8 months) of Broken Arrow OK.
