Vera Good, 94 of Ambridge, former of Baden, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 while under the compassionate care of the staff at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness, Brighton Township. Vera was born December 19, 1924 in Renton, PA, daughter of the late John and Anna (Hardaby) Kleemook. She was a graduate of Ambridge High School where she was a standout member of the girls’ basketball and volleyball teams.
During her years of employment, Vera worked at National Electric, Ambridge, manufacturing copper wire for supplies during WWII. It was there she met her husband, Walter A. Good, Sr. In years following, Vera was at Jiffy Steak, Freedom producing delicious sirloin steak burgers; and finally at the Baden Economy Jr. High School Cafeteria.
Nurturing and caring for family was the center of Vera’s life. She was quite industrious at home, always tending to a vegetable garden, harvesting peaches and raising chickens. She canned and jarred vegetables and peaches and collected eggs. Vera also cultivated a flower garden of beautiful red roses. As grandchildren came along, she was excited to watch them grow and made the effort to support, attend and watch as many of their sporting activities as possible. She was proud of each and every one of them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter A. Good, Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law: David and Connie Good; and three brothers: John, George and Walter Kleemook.
Vera is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Walter A. (Toni) Good, Jr., Lexington, KY; James (Frances) Good, Aliquippa; nine grandchildren: Lisa (Brian) Smith; Shelly (Ben) Jones; James (Eve) Good, Jr.; Jason (Hilary) Good; Joshua (Jamee) Good; Joseph (Morgan) Good; Melissa Ogbara; Dylan Good and Shaun Policaro; twenty great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum), where her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., immediately following the visitation.
