She was the beloved wife of the late James P. Powers Sr. She was the loving mother of son James P. Powers Jr. and his wife Marie of Arlington, MA. her late son William H. Powers Sr. and his wife Arlene of NH., son Robert F. Powers Sr. and his wife Susan of Loganville, her late daughter Mary A. Reed and her late husband Joseph R. Reed of Gainsville, son Stephen M. Powers of Duluth, daughter Donna M. Harrington and her husband Robert of Watkinsville, and son Shawn J. Powers of Bogart, GA. She was the cherished and much loved grandmother of James, Donald, Megan, Hollie, William Jr., Corinne, Kristin, Andrea, Robert Jr., Todd, Stephen, Ashley, Jason, Ricky, Roy Jr., Raymond, Anna, Rebecca, Bailey, Shawn Jr. and the proud an loved great-grandmother to 23 kid's. Grace was predeceased by her sister Patricia and brother Henry and leaves behind her sister's Jean, Cynthia, and Dorothy of MA. Grace touched the lives of many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Grace was born November 24, 1930 and is now reunited with her parents Henry J. Black and Grace V. (Doherty) Black of MA. She was born and raised in Dorchester, MA. and was a 1948 graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. In addition to being a beloved housewife and mother of seven, Grace was an active AVON Representative for over 50 years and an entitled member of President's Club and Collector's Club. She was a devout parishioner and worshiped her love for our Lord Jesus at St. Anna's Catholic Church in Monroe and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Athens and contributed to Catholic Charities as well as many other Charities. Grace had many hobbies including, Avon bottle collecting, astronomy, politics, debating, penny ante poker and crochet. She was an avid reader and extensive traveler and maintained lifelong relationships and loved spending time with her family and friends during gatherings.
Visiting hours will be held at the Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy. (Hwy. 78), Snellville, GA. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 5 - 9 p.m.
A Mass-Funeral will follow on October 2, 2019 at St. Anna's Catholic Church, 1401 Alcovy Street, Monroe, GA. gathering will be from 11 - 11:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Catholic burial at 12 p.m.
Interment will be in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens (next to the funeral home), 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy. (Hwy. 78), Snellville, GA.
