1957 ~ 2019
Pearson, Daryl Gordon passed away on September 28, 2019 at the age of 61 years. Daryl was born on December 27, 1957 to Lorne and Alma Pearson. Daryl is predeceased by his parents, Lorne & Alma; uncle and aunt, Walter & Jean Johnson; uncle and aunt, Otto & May Black; uncles, Fred and Clarence Gordon and cousin, Howard Block. His early years were spent on the family farm where he had pet rabbits and a horse. Daryl learned how to operate a 44 Massey Tractor and a snowmobile. With cognitive difficulties, Daryl’s schooling started at the Harrow De Groot School in Regina; one of his most notable teachers was Beth Dechief. As years progressed he was taught upholstery work at the Cosmopolitan Centre. Daryl’s main sports were dances and bowling; he acquired many bowling trophies. Throughout his years in Regina, his accommodations progressed from room and board situations, to group homes and even had his own apartment at one time. As he aged, problems arose and Daryl passed away at the Pasqua Hospital on September 28, 2019. The handicapped have a more difficult road to walk in life, as many people would prefer to tease them. However, praise be to those who helped Daryl in his life journey. Daryl’s friends included the Wahl family, Dorothy Stephenson, Betty Muller, the Schindler family, the Spitzer family, the Gus Walters family, the Lenz family, the Howay family and numerous social workers. Today, the final chapter in Daryl’s life journey is being played out. If Daryl could speak today, I think he would say, “I’m free. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. Daryl will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Larry Pearson of Weyburn, SK; brother, Don Pearson & family of Weyburn, SK; and cousin, Allan Block & family of Weyburn, SK. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, Regina, Saskatchewan with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating.
