Lorraine M. Steer, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2019 in Longmont, Colorado after a 12-year battle with stage 3(c)/4 breast cancer. She was born on February 16th, 1968 in San Francisco, California to George and Almarinda Kersh. Lorraine (Lorri) was the first-born twin sister of Sarah Morrison.
Lorri grew up in Piedmont, California and graduated from Piedmont High in 1986. During High School, she enjoyed folk dancing with a local German group and was a foreign exchange student in Switzerland sharpening her German language. Lorri then attended the University of California at Irvine and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in June 1990. It was during this time she met her husband, Scott Steer while overseeing the incoming freshman housing together. Lorri and Scott were married at the Mills College Chapel in Oakland, California on July 14, 1990. Lorri worked in San Francisco and Burlingame in Marketing. And then later she held group classes in photography and creative memory scrapbooking as well as speaking about her faith and wisdom in front of woman groups.
Family and friends were extremely important in her life. From an early age, Lorri wanted to be a mother and enjoyed every moment with her three amazing daughters and precious grandson. She excelled at cooking and photography. And left behind creative books of art for her family to remember.
Lorri enjoyed several vacations to Hawaii, California, and Disneyworld with family and friends along with romantic trips to Nova Scotia, Mendocino, Carmel-by the Sea, Vail, London, Madrid, and Paris. Lorri mostly enjoyed the quiet times reading children books every night to her children and grandson.
Lorri had endless grace and love to everyone she met, including her family, orphans, homeless, and friends. Lorri had the perfect touch of truth when needed which made it easy to agree with her. She excelled at puzzles, trivia, board games, biblical and poetry translation, or when one needed a paper edited or a word synonym. Lorri fought for patient rights during her cancer treatment and won a photography award for the Longmont Times Call calendar cover in 2011.
Lorri is survived by a host of family that includes her devoted husband, Scott Steer; loving children Ellen, Emma, and Olivia Steer; precious grandson, James Brucker; Her wonder-twin sister, Sarah Morrison of Sacramento, California; niece Evelyn Cheek, and nephew Aaron Cheek of California; many wonderful cousins, aunts, and uncles in California as well as many friends around the world.
