She will always be remembered as a loving mother, a wise and tender grandmother, and a spunky, loyal, and giving friend to all that knew her.
She was born August 2, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan to Ted and Dorothy Walker. Judy attended Purdue University where she met her husband, Ron. They were married on September 9, 1961. She was an active member of the Plano community for many years and a devoted volunteer. She served as President of the Junior League of Collin County, and the Richardson/Plano Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Judy was a recruitment advisor for the Kappa chapter at the University of North Texas for 19 years, a member of the House Board, and in 2004 she was honored as the Greek Advisor of the Year. She helped to organize the Volunteer Center of Plano, was its first President, and was honored with the Spirit of Volunteerism Award in 2001.
Judy was an avid bridge player, reader, and football fan. She loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. She was a determined fighter who beat the odds for several years. Judy was a mentor to many and dearly loved her family. Many benefited from her wisdom, and all who knew her loved her quick wit.
Judy is survived by her husband Ronald Broadwell of Plano, son David and wife Lluvia of Garland, Texas, daughter Cathy Edwards and husband Shawn of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and daughter Beth Hamilton of Wylie, Texas. 8 grandchildren: Melody and Chloe Broadwell; Michael, Caleb, Nathan, and Emily Edwards; and Cade and Piper Hamilton.; a sister, Sally Gautier of Stephenville, Texas; niece Jenny Gautier and nephew Ted Gautier; Sister-in-law Sunny Broadwell, Brother-in-law Larry Broadwell and wife Marsha, and nieces Lisa Broadwell and Jessica Hamilton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 9, 2019
at Ted Dickey Funeral Home West.
