Jeannine Joan Johnson, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2019 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Jeannine is survived by her daughters Laurie (Mark) Clark and Linda (Andy) McConnell, grandchildren Bryan (Kayleigh) Clark, Kelley (Kyle) Robinson, Whitney (Neal) Shelton, Rebecka McConnell, Riley Clark, Daniel (Katelyn) Clark, great grandchildren McKee Clark, Walter Clark, Claire Robinson, Lydia Shelton, sister Sandra Huey, many nieces and nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Johnson, parents Jesse and Mildred Rushing, and her brother Jerry Rushing.
Jeannine was born February 27, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was adopted by Jessie and Mildred Rushing as an infant. She graduated from Stuart High School in Stuart, Iowa before moving to Omaha where she worked at Greyhound. She met and married her husband of 64 years in Omaha. They made many states their home across the Midwest, before retiring in New Braunfels, TX in 1986. Jeannine was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs. She also loved to knit, sew, and bake for her grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
The family greatly appreciates the care provided by all the staff at Bethany House, as well as the compassion extended to Jeannine and her family during her stay.
