Services for David Safley, 77, of Huntington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Cornerstone Chapel in Huntington, with Pastors Tommy Dorsey, M. K. Stanley, James Wilkie and Michael Rea officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.
David was born November 25, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Marguerite (Miller) and David Sevilla Safley, Jr. He passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in a local hospital.
David was a loving husband and son. He loved his family, enjoyed singing, going to church and working with Boy Scouts. David was a member and a 22-year Deacon of Cornerstone Chapel.
Survivors include his cousins, Tommy Bennett of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Pat Blair of Killeen; sister-in-law, Jody Crunk of Zavalla; nieces, Sammie Baldras of Conroe, Mary Holloway of New Waverly and Sheryl Ballenger of Atlanta, Georgia; and nephew, Mark Ballenger of Wichita, Kansas.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 10 years, Lois Safley; and sister, Frances Ballanger.
Members of David’s church will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
