Linda Kay Mauro (née Wilson) died unexpectedly in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, on November 3, 2019 at the age of 75. Linda is survived by her daughter, Laura Krausa; her granddaughter, Lyndsay; her grandson, Peter; and her son-in-law Pete. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph.
Linda was born on February 2, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, to Jay and Hazel Wilson. She graduated from North High School in Denver, Colorado, in 1962. Linda went on to attend the University of Northern Colorado where she received a Bachelor’s and Masters degree in elementary and special education, graduating in 1967. Linda served as a teacher in the Denver Public School system for nearly 25 years. Daughter Laura was born in 1968 and fondly remembers her mother as a gifted teacher, and a loving and supportive mother who encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Linda met Ralph in 1970 and they married in 1981, spending the rest of their lives lovingly devoted to each other.
Linda was an avid gardener who carried on her family’s legacy of farming, and finding both God and her roots in the beautiful gardens she tended. She was also an accomplished seamstress and cook, who loved celebrations and always had a way of making even the simplest of occasions into extraordinary events. She was a loving and doting grandmother who cherished special time with her grandchildren and who took great pride in the accomplishments of her family.
A funeral is scheduled for 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 7, at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary (7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO) with a reception to follow at the same location. Viewing is scheduled for 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, also at Olinger Crown Hill. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Linda’s life.
