Arlene Lucille Reich was born at Taloga, OK on November 8, 1924 to Rev. Ira and Veda Griffis. She died on November 6, 2019 at Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 94, two days shy of 95!
Arlene graduated high school at Nelson, MO in 1941, and college at Missouri Valley College at Marshall, MO in 1944. The following year, she attended one additional year of college at Phillips University at Enid, OK. It was there, Arlene met her future husband, Harold Parker Reich.
Arlene began working in Kansas City, following her year at Phillips University. She and Harold were married on January 30, 1948.
After ten years of waiting, hoping, and praying, on September 18, 1959, Arlene gave birth to their only child, Judith Elaine.
Arlene was primarily a homemaker, but worked a number of years as a librarian, a job she enjoyed because of her love of reading and books.
After living many years in the Kansas City area, Arlene and Harold moved to Las Vegas in 1997, to be closer to their daughter, Judy.
Arlene was preceded in death by her older brother, Lyle Griffis, in 1987; by her husband, Harold, in 1997; by her older sister, Elaine Wilson, in 2001; and by her daughter, Judy, in 2018.
Arlene is survived by her two nephews, Dr. Edwin L. Wilson of Norman, OK and Rev. Tracy L. Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK, and some very dear friends.
Arlene's request was that any Memorial Gifts be given to Diabetes Research, such as The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 5542 S Fort Apache Road #100, Las Vegas, NV 89148.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Arlene's life was held at the Palm Cheyenne Mortuary in Las Vegas, NV at 11 am on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
