Mrs. Billie M. Cherry (Chandler), life-time resident of Pinson, Alabama passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mrs. Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Jimmy Drayton Cherry (1935 - 2013), to whom she was married for 60 years. Mrs. Cherry was a life-long member of Pinson Methodist Church and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Cherry spent her life caring for her family, including her mother, Della Muriel Chandler, her father, William (Bill) Chandler, and her late husband. While working outside the home, she fed the children of Pinson through the public school system for more than 15 years. She is a graduate of Tarrant High School and her hobbies included travel, music, knitting, genealogy, reading, and family. Mrs. Cherry is survived by her three children, Susan Ogles, Ann Jones (husband Mike), and William (Jay) Cherry (wife Nadine), and was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Rowe (1960 – 2018). In addition to her own children, Mrs. Cherry leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Pinson United Methodist Church. Visitation for Mrs. Cherry will be at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Overseeing the funeral will be Reverend Barry Dunn, a life-long family friend.
