Eleanor was born on March 9, 1932 in Swampscott to the late Antonio and Carolina (Tauresana) Travascio. She was a graduate of Swampscott High School and Salem Commercial School.
Eleanor worked as a secretary for GTE Sylvania, she began working for Sylvania in 1952 for 43 years before retiring from their Human Resources department in 1995. After her retirement Eleanor worked at Morgan Stanley as a Secretary for many years.
She was a member of the Sylvania Executive Board for over 40 years and was an avid bowler in Sylvania’s Bowling League. Eleanor also served on the Committee at Marion Court College in Swampscott. She was an avid Patriots fan who loved dining at the Century House and getting food to go from the Epicurean Shoppe. Eleanor was also a long-time communicant at St. Joseph’s Church in Swampscott.
She is survived by her sister Angelina Therrin of Salem; her niece Carol Therrin; and long-time friend Antoinette “Ann” Santo and her husband James of Peabody. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew her immediately loved her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor is predeceased by her brothers Antonio Travascio Jr., and Joseph Travascio, and her sister Catherine Travascio.
Eleanor’s Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 11AM to 12 PM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn followed by a Funeral Service at 12 PM. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11 AM.
