Patricia Jean Monson, age 76, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on January 3, 2020, in West Valley City, Utah, after several years of receiving dialysis treatments. She was born August 17, 1943, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She was the second daughter of Edna Anderson McLeod and Alexander Corbett McLeod. She never met her father as he was called to serve in World War II before her birth and died in service when she was 13 months old.
Patricia loved spending time with her sister Ann and attended Cardston High School before studying at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She met her sweetheart, Jim Monson, in Salt Lake City and they were married on November 26, 1965. They had 4 sons, Mike, Doug, Robert, and Jason.
Patricia and Jim lived in the same home for over 40 years and had many beloved friends in their neighborhood. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Patricia had many church callings throughout her life, but one that had a special place in her heart was serving the Young Women. She was always there to give a helping hand and a hot meal for a neighbor. Patricia loved to garden and her yard was always a show piece. She adored her grandchildren and loved to spend any time she could with them.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James Osborne Monson, and her son Douglas Lamont Monson. She is survived by her children, Michael James Monson, Robert Bruce Monson, Jason McLeod Monson; her four daughter-in-laws: Stephanie (Michael), Carol (Douglas), Jessica (Robert), and Camille (Jason); her 13 grandchildren; and her sister, Ann Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse at 5000 Pavant Ave, West Valley City, Utah, with a viewing beginning there at 9:00 am.
